Ft. Misery “Life on the Homestead” Saturday, July 12th, 2025

Life during the pioneer era was centered around self-sufficiency and hard work. People often lived in simple log cabins or rudimentary homes made from available materials. Daily chores, such as cooking over an open fire, washing clothes by hand, and tending to crops or livestock, were time-consuming and labor-intensive. Families worked together to build their homes, grow food, and make necessary items like clothing and furniture. Home life was a close-knit community, with family members depending on each other for survival and emotional support. Museum visitors will get to experience what life was like for the average Prescottonian 160 years ago.
